Our Alliance

NAWPA is part of an international movement to empower and amplify the voice of waste pickers. Through an ongoing exchange of knowledge, resources and ideas, we create and share practical solutions that respond to the unique needs of our communities.

The history of our organizations is a history of solidarity between people. Each of our organizations was born through the efforts of passionate individuals who understood that waste diversion models built on waste picker expertise and leadership could better serve waste picker communities and have a greater environmental benefit.

At the core of our alliance is a commitment to the idea that any effort to support waste pickers will only be effective with waste picker involvement from the outset.

Binners’ Project fosters social and economic inclusion, builds community resilience and stronger networks, and engages on sustainability issues. Through our programs, we empower binners as part of the circular economy - building a community from the bottom up.
