Who We Are
The North America Waste Pickers Alliance (NAWPA) is a united voice for informal recyclers and others who earn income by reclaiming what others have discarded.
A network of waste picker organizations based in the United States and Canada, we have four affiliate members who are part of the International Alliance of Waste Pickers (IAWP). As a young network, we are working to grow in the years to come.
Our members are
-
Sure We Can in New York City
-
Ground Score Association in Portland, Oregon
-
Binners’ Project in Vancouver
-
Les Valoristes Coopérative de Solidarité in Montreal.
Our members fight for policies that recognize the value of waste pickers to their communities and to the environment.

The communities and political contexts in which our organizations work are different. What unites us is a shared commitment to building the power and voice of waste pickers in North America. We all want to achieve inclusive circular economy systems that recognize the work of waste pickers.
