Who We Are

The North America Waste Pickers Alliance (NAWPA) is a united voice for those who earn income through recycling. 

 

A network of waste picker organizations based in the United States and Canada, we are part of the International Alliance of Waste Pickers (IAWP). As a young network, we have four affiliate members and are working to grow in the years to come.

The communities and political contexts in which our organizations work are different. What unites us is a shared commitment to building the power and voice of waste pickers in this region. We all want to achieve inclusive circular economy systems that recognize the work of waste pickers.
